My New Friend's reliable, honest and trained staff will work one on one in addressing the needs and providing carefully considered assistance for each individual person.
Kristina Callender, MSW, is Care Manager for My New Friend. Kristina has the personal, professional and academic background to work effectively with seniors and has enjoyed working with hundreds of aging adults in the Puget Sound area.
As a committed advocate for older adults Ms. Callender’s personal and educational background allows her to understand family dynamics and the
challenges associated with aging. Ms. Callender began her career in elder care began at age sixteen when she accepted a part-time position at a local retirement community. Academically, she pledged to serve the social needs of society and earned a Master of Social Work degree. Personally she cared for a grandmother who died from Alzheimer’s disease and a grandfather who survived cancer. Professionally she has worked as both a caregiver and supervisor for respite and long-term care programs. Kristina impacts many families as a home health medical social worker by educating patients and their families to access needed resources and navigate the long -term care system. Her past related work experience includes hospice, family caregiver support, life enrichment, recreation, alternative living arrangements, care planning, and advocacy. Kristina’s experience allows her to understand the complexities of living with and caring for persons living with a mental health condition, cognitive impairment, and/or mobility issues. Through balancing concerns Kristina is an expert problem solver, mediator, and dedicated advocate for seniors and persons living with a disability. By listening she will ensure she fully understands your issues and concerns, then advise you on your options allowing you to maintain control of the important decisions in your life.
